Each issue cover begins with research and mood board creation. “The White Lotus” art direction is award winning and was fun to translate into a solid magazine design cover and feature spread. Because of the latest season’s iconic location in Thailand we originally wanted to shoot outdoors at a botanical garden here in Los Angeles.

From the title screen to credit roll “The White Lotus” has a fantastic look. We worked some ideas around the jungle tapestry and superb typography. With the photo shoot moving into the studio we created a set around the climactic episode surrounding the infamous Pina Colada cocktails.

The photography was the work of Niklas Weikert who did an amazing job building strong report with John Valerio the editor. We had a great session all around and finished with a strong cover for the Q3 issue.
